AT NIGHT I FLY WINS AGAIN
PRESS RELEASE MARCH 12, 2012
AT NIGHT I FLY wins Best Documentary award at this year’s Temp Documentary Festival. This follows in the wake of Best Documentary at this years Swedish Oscars (Guldbagge), last year’s Sheffield Jury Award nomination and rave reviews at the recent Glasgow Film Festival.
AT NIGHT I FLY is the uplifting story of how art, poetry and music can be a means for survival in one of the darkest, most haunting places on earth. It takes us to New Folsom Prison and introduces us to some remarkable human beings.
Temp Documentary Festival : 'AT NIGHT IF FLY is both a moving and disturbing film - a poetic and intelligent interpretation highlighting themes of humanity, acceptance and civil rights. Unsentimental but emotionally powerful...'
Glasgow Film Festival Review (Glasgow Guardian): ‘With this in mind, Michel Wenzer’s offering achieves something genuinely magnificent, breaking from the voyeuristic modes usually found in similar endeavors. There are long stretches of this movie where you forget you’re in New Folsom Prison at all, a truly incredible feat for a film where within ten minutes of sitting down you’ve already seen raw CCTV footage of a man getting stabbed to death, and been informed by security that should you be taken hostage whilst on your visit, the state will not exchange your life for an inmates freedom.’ Full article: http://glasgowguardian.co.uk/culture/film/gff-review-at-night-i-fly/
