J-P Valkeapää's DOGS DON'T WEAR PANTS selected for Directors' Fortnight
The Yellow Affair is thrilled to announce J-P Valkeapää’s DOGS DON’T WEAR PANTS will have its World Premiere at the 51st Directors’ Fortnight (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs) in Cannes.
The story follows Juha who develops an unexpected but powerful connection with a dominatrix named Mona, following a tragic event in his life that has left him emotionally paralyzed. His dangerous addiction to suffocation is reciprocated by Mona leading them both down a wild and crazy path towards emotional enlightenment. Dogs Don’t Wear Pants is a darkly humorous story of loss, love and the sweet pain of being.
Dogs Don’t Wear Pants is directed by J-P Valkeapää, written by J-P Valkeapää and Juhana Lumme and produced by Aleksi Bardy and Helen Vinogradov for Helsinki-filmi. The film is co-produced by Alise Gelze and Aija Berzina, Tasse Film (Latvia) and in association with Vratislav Šlajer and Danny Holman, Bionaut (Czech Republic).
J-P Valkeapää’s earlier films They Have Escaped (2014) and The Visitor (2008) screened in Venice and this year marks the director’s debut on the Croisette.
The lead roles are played by award-winning actors Pekka Strang (Tom of Finland, 95, The Ceiling, Armi Live!, Naked Harbour) and Krista Kosonen (Miami, Beforeigners, Blade Runner 2049, The Midwife, Jade Warrior).
The Yellow Affair will commence sales in Cannes for the world excluding the Nordic territories.
