UNMOORED by Caroline Ingvarsson wins Best Feature Film Debut at Nordic Film Days in Lübeck

Lübeck, November 9, 2024 - The winners of the 66th Nordic Film Days Lübeck were honored tonight in the festive setting of the Film Prize Night at Theater Lübeck. Presenter Loretta Stern hosted the evening, during which a total of eleven prizes with a total value of 65,000 euros were awarded. Finnish actress Kati Outinen had already received the unendowed honorary prize at the opening of the Nordic Film Days on November 6.

Among the numerous international guests of the festival, filmmakers who presented their films in the various sections, including the award winners, were the Mayor of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck Jan Lindenau and the Senator for Culture and Education, Monika Frank, as well as the Danish Honorary Consul Carsten Bliddal and the Finnish Honorary Consul Bernd Jorkisch. Bruno Hönel and Tim Klüssendorf, two members of the German Bundestag, and Anette Röttger and Sophia Schiebe, two members of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament, were among the guests.

Four prizes were awarded in the feature film competition, two of which went to the Danish production "My Eternal Summer" / "Min evige sommer" were awarded, including the prize with the highest endowment of the festival of 12,500 euros. NDR Film Prize. Director Sylvia Le Fanu took him and the Baltic Film Prize for a Nordic film, prize, endowed with 5,000 euros. The jury of the NDR Film Prize described the film as "as bright as a never-ending midsummer", while the Baltic Film Jury praised it for addressing everything between life, death and love.

The jury of the INTERFILM Church Film Award presented its award of 5,000 euros to "When the Light Breaks" / "Ljósbrot", a production from Iceland, the Netherlands, Croatia and France. The film was directed by the Icelander Rúnar Rúnarsson.

The Prize of the Lübecker Nachrichten with prize money of 5,000 euros was awarded by the public jury to Quiet Life (France / Germany / Sweden / Greece / Estonia / Finland) by Greek director Alexandros Avranas.

 The films in the documentary film competition of the Nordic Film Days Lübeck competed for the prize awarded by the ver.di Lübeck/South-East Holstein district and endowed with 5,000 euros. Documentary Film Award. It was won by Pamela Hogans „The Day Iceland Stood Still", an Icelandic-American co-production.

For the best short film in the section Film forum praises the CineStar Groupannual prize endowed with 5,000 euros. CineStar Award out. This year it went to "Yesterday, I'm thinking about tomorrow" by the Hamburg director and cinematographer Tom Otte. A Special Mention from the jury went to "I was really me back then too, but only in my head" by Julia Küllmer.

Two prizes are awarded in the children's and youth section Young Audienceawarded.

The Children's and Youth Film Prize of the Gemeinnützige Sparkassenstiftung, Eirik Sæter Stordahl was awarded the third prize, endowed with 5,000 euros, for his Norwegian film "Lars er LOL" / "Lars is LOL" received. The children's jury of the Nordic Film Days Lübeck also awarded its prize to his film. The Prize of the children's jury is endowed with 5,000 euros and is supported by of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck donated. The children's jury awarded a Special Mention to "Victoria Must Go" / "Victoria må dø" (Norway) by Gunnbjörg Gunnarsdóttir from.

In the sections Nordic shorts and Young Audience the prize for the best Nordic and Baltic short film donated by Lübeck municipal utilities and endowed with 5,000 euros. This prize also went to Rúnar Rúnarsson for his short film "O" (Iceland / Sweden).

Finally, two prizes will be awarded across all sections. The Award of the Freundeskreis for the Best Feature Film Debut, prize, endowed with 7,500 euros, was awarded to Caroline Ingvarsson for "Unmoored" (Sweden / Great Britain / Poland).

The youth jury, consisting of young people aged 14 to 17 from Lübeck, awarded its prize of 5,000 euros, donated by the Hanseatic City of Lübeck, to the Danish-Swedish youth film "Fighting Demons With Dragons" / "Med drager mod dæmoner" (Denmark / Sweden) by Camilla Magid.

The Nordic Film Days Lübeck from November 6 until tomorrow, November 10. 169 films in 212 public screenings will be performed in the Lübeck venues. Over 60% of the program will be available to audiences across Germany via streaming until 17 November.
